On The Fritz
 
Our voice mail system died last week. For two days or so it was recording incoming messages, but we could not hear them (so if you called last week and haven't heard back from one of our staff, this is probably why). The problem was diagnosed and the system shut down on Friday.

What this means is that until we get a new system installed the phone will just ring and ring if we are unavailable to answer. It will likely be a few weeks until the new system is installed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Our newest Board member Cynthia Wells had a thought provoking article in yesterday's local paper about the legacy of Dr. King. Check it out and in addition to being better informed you'll also learn why Cynthia was so helpful to us as the main wordsmith behind our re-written vision and mission statements and our newly developed core values.

In light of Cynthia's article and in honor of MLK day, I'll the share the following quote that brings to mind the courage and dedication of the current group of women in our program:

New Vision, Mission and Core Values
 
As part of our strategic planning process this past year, our Board has taken a good hard look at our vision and mission, and updated both. We also desired to share the values that inform and guide our work, so we developed a list of official organizational core values. I've updated the site to include the new Vision, Mission and Core Values.

We're hiring a Development Coordinator. This full-time position focuses on grant-writing, donor relations, and annual campaign coordination, and includes support of other public relations efforts such as special events and speaking engagements. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience in fundraising/marketing or a related profession, and be a personable, self-motivated professional with strong writing, organizational, networking and communication skills. This job entails relationship building with donors and other local funders with the ultimate goal of enhancing the organization's vision fulfillment through resource development.
