Urgent Call for Volunteer Help

Its expansion month at BHA! We're expanding the size of our program from 9 to 12 families this new year...and combined with normal program turnover, we have five apartments that we need to prepare for new families. The sooner we can get these ready, the sooner five homeless families will have a warm home this winter. Can you help us?

Most of the work is light maintenance (painting, minor repair, cleaning, etc.) although we also could use some skilled carpentry labor, especially in one apartment needing some extensive work. We've identified several work days over the next month during which we'd love to have some significant help. Are you or a group from your church or workplace available to help us?:

  • Monday, January 19 (MLK holiday), 8am-4pm
  • Saturday, January 24, 8:30-11:30am
  • Thursday, January 29, 8am-4pm
  • Monday, February 16 (President's Day holiday), 8am-4pm
Please note: we can accommodate help most weekdays...we tried to schedule a few days above as rallying points. However, if you have a group that wants to come and none of the above dates work, call us and we'll see what we can work out. Contact Dennis Saylor, Property Manager (dsaylor@bha-pa.org or 717-233-6016), to RSVP or if you have questions.

Change The World One Person At A Time

Resolving to make a difference in 2009? Consider becoming a Bagwashi with BHA! A Bagwashi is one who serves as a friend and support to the families in our Transitional Housing Program. You can get to know our families on Bagwashi Circle Nights (3rd Thursday of every month, 6:00-8:00pm). The next Bagwashi Circle Training will be on Saturday, January 31, 9:00-noon. For more information, contact Jennifer Rash at jrash@bha-pa.org or (717) 233-6016.
