Friday, March 06, 2009 Many Hands Make Light Work The community continues to rally around our program expansion. A team from Highmark Blue Shield recently came on a Friday to work on two apartments that will be used for new families. This was a team building exercise for these co-workers, part of Highmark's organizational philosophy and commitment to the community. We love these types of businesses! Thanks Highmark! They are currently leading our families through a 16 session comprehensive parenting class over 8 weeks. This has been a tremendous blessing to our families and asset to our program. Thanks, Samara! Friday, March 06, 2009 If You Expand It, They Will Come The news and excitement of our expansion is spreading far and wide. On President's day we hosted work teams from Indian Creek Church of the Brethren in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, and Frederick Church of the Brethren in Frederick, Maryland. The groups worked hard on the three new apartments we're bringing online for our transitional housing program as we expand the capacity of our program from 9 to 12 families. This week Irosha and her baby are moving in, and in a few days Amanda and her toddler will be joining the BHA family. We say thank you to both groups for helping to make these homes possible! (Below are some pictures the Indian Creek group snapped while working. Special thanks to Kerry Ziegler for taking and sending us the pictures.) Charlotte Moyer does a bang up job cleaning the kitchen
Eugene Wampler and Larry Cassel work hard ripping out a kitchen in an apartment that is getting a complete rehab
Kerry Ziegler does a fine job painting trim
Leon Moyer, along with others, gives this room a big facelift
Theresa Wampler cleans up the mess Kerry and Leon made
Leon supervises BHA Executive Director Steve Schwartz to make sure he stays on task
