Directions to BHA Offices

BHA’s offices are located in the basement of the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren at 219 Hummel Street in Harrisburg, in the South Allison Hill section of the city.

From Downtown Harrisburg

Leave downtown by taking the Mulberry Street bridge (next to the train station) toward Allison Hill. Shortly after crossing the bridge, turn right onto Hummel Street. See below for parking and office location.

From Lancaster Area

Take 283 West toward Harrisburg. At the turnpike interchange, take I-283 North toward Harrisburg. After about two miles, exit left onto I-83 South. Then follow directions below for I-83 going South.

From Lebanon Area

Take 422 or 322 West toward Harrisburg (at Hershey 422 West merges into 322 West). When nearing Harrisburg, continue straight onto I-83 South. Then follow directions below for I-83 going South.

From York, Carlisle or other West Shore locations

Proceed to the either I-83 North or I-81 North, and then follow directions below for I-83 or I-81 going North.

From PA Turnpike

If traveling East on the turnpike from Pittsburgh or the western part of the state:

• Take the Harrisburg West exit (exit number 242). Follow signs for I-83 North.
• At the I-83/581 split continue on I-83 North toward Harrisburg.
• Then follow directions below for I-83 going North.

If traveling West on the turnpike from Philadelphia or the eastern part of the state:

• Take the Harrisburg East exit (exit number 247).
• From the toll booths go straight ahead onto I-283 North toward Harrisburg.
• After a few miles, follow signs for I-83 South, which exits to the left.
• Then follow directions below for I-83 going South.

From I-81

If traveling North on I-81 from southern PA, western Maryland, or Virginia:

• Exit onto route 581 East, between Carlisle and Harrisburg.
• Follow 581 until it merges with I-83 north, just west of Harrisburg.
• Then follow directions below for I-83 going North.

If traveling South on I-81 from Scranton, northern PA, New York, or from I-78:

• Exit onto I-83 south at Harrisburg and follow directions below for I-83 going South.

From I-83

If going North on I-83, take the 13th Street exit. From the exit bear right onto 13th Street.

• Continue to the 3rd light, and turn left onto Derry Street.
• Almost immediately, bear left at the "Y."
• Then turn left on the first street which is Hummel Street.
• See below for parking and office location.

If going South on I-83, take the 17th Street exit. From the exit turn right onto 17th Street.

• Continue to the 3rd light and turn left onto Derry Street.
• Follow Derry straight through the next light at 13th Street, and then bear left at the "Y."
• Then turn left on the first street which is Hummel Street.

Parking and Office Location

BHA's offices are located in the basement of Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren, on the first block on the left side of the street. Park on the street, or in the church lot on the opposite side of the street just past the church building. From the sidewalk, use the basement entrance (down 5 or 6 steps before entering). BHA’s offices are to the right inside the large room you enter. If having difficulties, call the BHA offices at 717.233.6016.
